Basics For Paid Website Traffic

Traffic is the fuel of internet marketing business. In addition, most people struggle to bring quality visitors to their offers. One of the reasons is that they are so caught up in the idea of free traffic and SEO that the sources of cheap and quality traffic are vastly ignored.

In my experience, there is no free internet traffic. The time and effort that I put in the past simply did not result in any serious results. Optimizing for search engines is way too difficult today with Google's Panda and Penguin updates. The era of sale mini sites is long gone. The biggest challenge for optimising is the accumulation of quality backlinks. Therefore, I will not even go to SEO and free traffic.

Paid traffic on the other hand could be totally different subject. The benefits of paid traffic is that we are in full control and give us vast area of flexibility. There are 4 pillars for good web traffic:

  1. Consistency- Traffic sources should be ones that are established, proven and consistent.
  2. Scalable- The sources have to give us option to test first and than upscale our demand and budget.
  3. Fast- After we pay for traffic, we want this visitors not in a week, but tomorrow.
  4. Cost Effective-Traffic has to be cheap and quality. we can not run a campaign if we pay $20 per click especially when we start and test our campaigns. Thankfully this is not a problem.
Since we can't adjust the products that we sell to the traffic, we surely can adjust the traffic to our products or offers. Every product or offer has a specific bread of visitors and there for considering the source of traffic  is essential..
There are number of general types of traffic

  1. Ads on PTC sites- Pay To Click sites are paying their members to surfe, click and view your site or offer. This members are there to make money and are pretty much prospects. They are mostly from foreign countries with low living standard. Some sites have options to chose demographics and region which makes them with more potential if US, UK, Canada and Australia are chosen. A free startup programs are most Ideal. In addition they might be well situated for leads.
  2. CPC-Cost Per Click. Cost per click maybe is the most popular type. Thankfully aside from Google there are many alternatives for acquiring CPC advertising. I am going in details in my next posts.
  3. CPM- Cost Per 1000s Impressions. This advertising is based on impressions that are distributed in advertising networks.
  4. CPV/PPV- Cost Per View  or Pay Per View. We pay only if a pop up appears in front of our audience. This method is very effective, very targeted and very cheap.
  5. Solo Ads- When we ask a person with extensive  subscribers list to send to them our email ad this is called Solo Ad.
  6. Media Banners- When somebody advertise with banner ads placed on websites or network of sites.Very effective and cost efficient method.
  7. Contextual Ads- These are links on sites that when a visitor clicks or hover over certain key word a small pop up appears before them.

  9. OPL- Other's People List is a similar to Solo Ads.
  10. Offline Ads - Very effective and old method. Across the country there are thousands of free town newspapers. Luckily there are agencies or brokers that could place advertiser's ad across hundreds of thousands newspapers at ones. Suprisely, this method is very cheap and very effective for lead generation.
  11. Traffic Agencies - This is traffic on demand and the easiest one. Agencies acquire a lists from information brokers  and then sells traffic to advertisers. Not very expensive , but very effective.
  12. Display ads - These ads are very similar to Media Banners ads with the difference that are distributed through display networks on sites that are in this networks. They can be CPC-text ads or Banner ads.
  13. Social Media ads-  These are image ads based on CPC pricing. Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Tumblr, POF they all have self control  advertising platforms.
All these types are consistent, scalable, fast and cost effective. All of this sources are self control and with advertisers friendly easy to use platforms. With all of these a beginner can start with less than $50 budget and test the waters until see conversions and decide to upscale a campaign. Most of them are design to bring targeted traffic.
